Registration Process: A Step-by-Step Guide


Step 1:  Qualification Assessment

· Before beginning the registration process, ensure that your business meets the qualifications for a startup under the Startup India initiative. The eligibility criteria are as follows:

·  Your business must be incorporated as either a private limited company, a registered partnership firm, or a limited liability partnership (LLP).

·   Your startup should not be older than ten years from the date of incorporation.

· Your business must have an annual turnover of less than INR 100 crores in any of the previous financial years.

·  Your startup should focus on innovation, development, deployment, or commercialization of new products, processes, or services driven by technology or intellectual property.


Step 2: Register on the Startup India Portal 

To begin the registration process, visit the official Startup India portal at (https://www.startupindia.gov.in). Click on the "Register" button to create an account.


Step 3: Provide Business Details 

After creating an account, log in to the portal and provide the necessary details about your startup. This includes information about your business structure, industry, and other essential details.


Step 4: Upload Documents

Gather the necessary documents for submission, which include:

- Certificate of Incorporation/Registration

- Details of Directors/Partners

- PAN card of the business

- Address proof

- Audited financial statements (if applicable)

- Brief description of your business

- Pitch deck (optional but recommended)

 

Step 5: Self-Certification

Affirm that your startup satisfies the eligibility criteria and self-certify its status.


Step 6: Recognition Number

After your submission is successful, you'll be provided with a recognition number for your startup application. This number acts as evidence of your startup's registration within the Startup India initiative.


Step 7: Reap advantages

Once your startup is officially registered, you gain access to a range of benefits offered by the Startup India program, such as: expedited patent examination, exemptions from income tax, streamlined access to government tenders, simplified compliance procedures, and entry into a network of incubators and accelerators.
